Bush Administration: No Pictures Of The Dead
The Bush administration is following the same strategy in the Post-Katrina Recovery Disaster that they have followed with soliders dying in Iraq. If the American people don't see the pictures, maybe the dead don't actually exist.
Reuters has announced that FEMA officials have notified news agencies that they don't want photographs taken of the dead as they are recovered in New Orleans.
FEMA claims this policy is to ensure that the victims are treated with the utmost dignity and respect. To that, I offer this. It would have been far more respectful to get the right assistance to New Orleans in the first place. Then there might have been far fewer corpses to recover.
If there are any news agencies left with any spine, they MUST ignore this government decree and cover the real tragedy that is New Orleans.
